Website Review: Riparian Buffers

The Connecticut River Joint Commission’s website includes several fact sheets on riparian buffers, including an excellent 4-page document on the functions of riparian buffers which includes information on appropriate widths for the various functions. Other fact sheets include backyard buffers, forestland buffers, buffers for habitat, buffers for agricultural land, urban buffers, guidance for communities, planting riparian buffers, field assessment, and sources of assistance. Although the documents were developed for the Connecticut River watershed, they are appropriate most everywhere.
